Techniques, Rules and talk about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in America. Carlos Gracie Jr. is the son of Grand Master Carlos Gracie Sr. Carlos Gracie Jr. is the head Master of the school known as Gracie Barra which is responsible for the creation of more than two hundred black belts in Brazil. Carlos Gracie Jr. is the President of the C.B.J.J and the I.F.B.J.J. Carlos Gracie Jr. is responsible for the growth of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu through out the world today. Don’t miss this great opportunity to train and learn from an elite level Master of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
The seminar will be held on Friday April 29, 2005 at 6:00pm, the duration of the seminar will be three hours. The cost will $70. The seminar will be held at 2830 N. Cabrillo Hwy Half Moon Bay, Ca 94018.

attended and participated in the 2nd California Open held at the Half Moon Bay High School Gym November 20th & 21st. We are proud to say this years turnout was much better than last years and the fights were awesome. Congratulations to all who competed and thank you to all who volunteered their time. We appreciate everyones support. Some notables in attendance: Ricardo Franjihna,Jim Irizarry,Waldomiro Perez Junior,Cassio Werneck, Cleber Luciano, Claudio Franca, Cesar Gracie, Charles Gracie, Nick Diaz, Jeff Glover, Jorge "Macaco" Patino,Marcos Nascimento,Tom Theoufonopulos,Dave Terrel,Bill Cuper,Carley Gracie,Otavio de Almeida.

Furthermore we would like to apologize for long waits for fights, bracket confusion, and any other inconveniences. To our surprise registration numbers more than doubled leaving us to wonder if we need a bigger venue, SF state here we come. We tried our best to make up for the problems by doing some fancy bracket work. We promise a better system next year.

Saturday Results::Super Fights

Nick Diaz def. Jorge "Macaco" Patino - (1:12 kneebar). This was probably the most anticipated fight of the event and the crowd got a stunner. Macaco was agressive from the beginning stopping any possibility of a takedown. Diaz looked overpowered and almost outmatched. This standup battle went on for about a minute. In a flurry of movement Diaz ended up in his soon to be famous upside down guard where he surprised Macaco with a beautifully executed knee bar. Macaco tapped quickly. Diaz has added yet another amazing victory to his collection.

Federico Sabbatini def. Cleber Luciano - (9:20 collar choke from the back). A great match. Apparently Cleber gassed out at the end and just didn't make that last 40 seconds. He seemed to give a little and Sabbatini looking determined reacted instantly to the situation.

Vinicius Magalhaes def. Luke Stewart - (vantage). This was a very close battle that kept the crowd on its toes. I don't have final scores but I think it was an almost complete guard pass that won it for Vinicius. Lots of action and positions exchanged. Stewart having just recieved his black belt proved he is ready to use it.

Jay Hieron def. Suyan Queiroz - (2 points). This was a close match with Suyan using his skillful guard against the aggressive highly athletic Hieron who also retains lots of jiu jitsu skill.

Joao Cunha def. Daniel Souza - (vantage). 4/3 vantage - 4/2 vantage. IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY OF JIU JITSU. Lots of back and forth action with and interesting score outcome.....

Waldomiro Perez Junior def. Solomon Mitchell - (vantage). Close match. Great competitors and Champions. I only caught glimpses of this one.
